The OpenText Summit in Munich is one of the leading industry events for Enterprise Information Management, Cybersecurity, and Identity & Access Management (IAM). As a long-standing OpenText partner and NetIQ specialist, it was only natural for us to attend again in 2026.

Once again, the Summit provided an ideal platform to exchange ideas with customers, partners, and OpenText experts on current developments, emerging trends, and innovative solutions. Held at the Westin Grand Hotel in Munich, the event featured a diverse program including:

• visionary keynotes
• customer presentations and best practices
• practical real-world use cases
• breakout sessions and live demonstrations
• networking opportunities and expert discussions
• and an extensive exhibition area

 

Artificial Intelligence as the Central Theme

As at many other IT events over the past months, Artificial Intelligence was the dominant topic at the OpenText Summit. Throughout the event, it became clear that AI offers tremendous potential. However, organizations will only be able to fully leverage this potential if they have high-quality data, clear governance structures, and secure information management in place.

This message was a common thread running through the keynote presentations and many of the technical sessions. At the same time, it became evident that the impact of AI extends far beyond purely technical questions and will fundamentally transform many areas of business, including Identity & Access Management.

 

IAM in Transition: New Challenges Driven by AI

The keynote presentations clearly demonstrated that Artificial Intelligence will significantly reshape Identity & Access Management over the coming years. While the exact impact on organizations remains to be seen, this topic repeatedly came up during the event. Many of the detailed questions, however, will only be answered by the industry over the next few years.

These were exactly the topics we discussed extensively with customers, partners, and OpenText experts. In addition to traditional subjects such as:

• IAM strategy
• business roles and role management
• OpenText NetIQ consulting

new questions also became the focus of many discussions:

• What new requirements will Identity & Access Management face when AI agents become digital identities alongside human users?
• How should access rights and roles for AI agents be defined?
• Which governance models will be required?
• How will AI affect the licensing models of IAM solutions?

Although there are no definitive answers to these questions today, it is already becoming clear that Identity & Access Management will play a key role in enabling the secure and controlled use of AI within organizations.

Networking and Professional Exchange

Beyond the technical content, personal interaction was once again one of the most valuable aspects of the Summit. Conversations with customers, partners, and OpenText experts provided valuable insights into current challenges and future developments.

Our personal highlights included:

• meeting with Nicole Reichle and Stefan Stiehl from OpenText the evening before the Summit in a traditional Bavarian beer garden
• the partner session before the official start of the Summit, featuring strategic insights, extensive networking, and valuable professional discussions
• the inspiring keynote by Prof. Dr. Klemens Skibicki on how organizations can successfully navigate the transformation driven by Artificial Intelligence
• the engaging conversations with Prof. Dr. Klemens Skibicki during the evening event and his personal insights gained from many years of consulting experience

 

Conclusion: The OpenText Summit as a Source of Inspiration for IAM and AI

The OpenText Summit 2026 in Munich once again demonstrated how rapidly the fields of Enterprise Information Management, Identity & Access Management, and Artificial Intelligence continue to evolve. For organizations, it is becoming increasingly important to leverage data strategically while ensuring governance, security, and compliance.
